There Is More To Life Than What You See!
Having been a born again Christian now for close to 20 years, I have learned quite a bit. A lot has happened through out that time. Some I dealt with as a person who knows the peace of God and some, well let’s just say I am not perfect.
I was in my mid thirties when I figured out that there was something bigger than myself that I needed to give my life over to It. Of course, for the first Thirty something years, I thought I had come to know who I was and what my purpose in this life was. It was only after I acknowledged Jesus Christ as my savior and Lord of my life that I realized I had it all wrong.
I am not going to go into all that right here, but just know that God had and has a plan for my life, and we were not on the same page of the playbook. I am not here to convince anyone of their need for a Savior, since chances are, if you are reading this, you probably already know that.
The purpose of this site is to help those that have already given their lives over to God to understand what that means and how to go about working out their salvation. (Phil. 2:12) Although the grace of God is a free gift, we do need to fight the good fight(2 Tim 4:7). We do have an obligation to be a witness to the love that we share and share with others the “Good News.” How we do that is between us and God.
Through out our lives we will both rejoice in our victories as well as face trials and tribulations. Salvation is not a promise of an easy life full of honey and roses and we will not be spared the hurts and pains that come from living in a sinful world. It is how we deal with all of these situations that will distinguish us from the rest of the world. Our reactions to both the successes and failures is what sets us apart as children of God.
How we perceive the events of our lives and the actions that we take are determined by our relationship with God. Yes, it is a relationship. There will be ups and downs; there will be times when we don’t understand. There will also be times that we know beyond a shadow of a doubt what the next step should be. As long as we are communicating with God and staying in the Word, or the Bible. It is the same with any relationship. We need to take the time to understand who we are dealing with and where they are coming from. And the only way we do that is by taking the time to hear what they are telling us.
God has left us an instruction manual called the Bible. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) He has also provided us with a guide called the Holy Spirit, but that is a topic for another discussion. Bottom line is, God does not want us to go it alone. He wants us to seek understanding. He wants us to gain wisdom. He places people in our lives to help us in our journey. He raises up authors and songwriters and musicians to provide inspiration. He causes things to happen and allows things to happen so that we may see His glory in all things. He sends a lifeboat when we are drowning and also enables us to be the captain of that lifeboat.
So with all that being said, the rest of this website will be devoted to providing you with the tools to grow in wisdom and understand God’s plan for your life. No, I can’t spell it out for you and there are not step by step procedures to follow. But there are clues and hints and commands and suggestions in everything from the Bible to a song on the radio to a fellow member at your church. It is your responsibility to open your eyes and your ears and your hearts to discern what it all means for you personally. And if God can use me and this website to help in that process, that is just how he works.
